Entering the building

There is a wheel-chair accessible ramp to enter the building. However, please note that the front and bathroom doors do not have automatic openers.

Bathrooms

There is a bathroom with bar grips on the ground floor. The door has a clearance space of 32 inches.

There is a bathroom in the second floor with a door clearance space of 29 inches.

The bathroom in the third floor has clearance door space of 27.5 inches.

Kitchen

The Amethyst house has a large kitchen on the ground floor that clients can use to make coffee, tea, or have a snack.

Therapist offices

Most of the therapist private offices are located upstairs (the building does not have an elevator). There are 19 steps on the first flight of stairs, and 17 steps on the second flight.

Sessions can take place in the Judy Dunlop room on the ground level.

Who can use Amethyst services?

Amethyst services are available to women and gender diverse folks living in the Ottawa region who are 18 years of age and over.

Is Amethyst a residential program?

Amethyst offers non-residential, day counselling services. If you you are looking for immediate assistance for residential addiction services please call Service Access to Recovery (SAR) at 613-241-5202. SAR helps clients navigate services and offers assessment and referral services across the region.

How much do you charge for counselling?

Amethyst’s counselling services are free. We are funded primarily by Ontario Health, small grants and donations.

Do you have special protocols in place to ensure safety related to Covid-19?
